Sarah and Pete’s Couple’s Session – Fredericksburg, Virginia
Continuing the theme from yesterday honoring the Marine Corps and our Veterans, this blog post includes some photos from a special session from a couple that were stationed in Quantico, VA outside of Washington D.C. I had the opportunity to fly up to Virginia and photograph this amazing USMC couple on Valentine’s Day this year, just days after a record snowstorm!
Sarah and Pete, both Marines, met through friends and had been dating for a couple of years. Knowing that Sarah’s next duty station was going to be in Okinawa, Japan, they wanted to have some photos together before she left. Desiring a little more private, rustic, and relaxed setting than the urban hustle and bustle of Washington D.C., we headed down south from Quantico to the historic town of Fredericksburg for their session.
Side note: If I hadn’t acknowledged it before, I realized how captivated I am with snow. I love everything about it. I giggled when the big plow truck thingie came by, found silly excuses to stand knee-deep in snow banks, and even made a point to go skiing in Pennsylvania while I was there. This was my first time ever shooting a session in the snow, and boy, am I ready for the next! (Especially if you live within a reasonable proximity to a downhill ski mountain … call me. We need to talk.) ;)

I have so many photos that I’m enamored with from this session, but Sarah’s reaction below may very well be my favorite!
These were some icy streets, but Sarah braved them in her sexy heels!
Following my usual form, I found an old, unused door way and made them climb into it… and then squeeze each other while I was knee deep in snow.
When we turned down Main Street, we just happened to find this Marine Corps flag in front of a nearby shop!
A nice little breeze made for a picture perfect shot!
In a snow-less alley, the shot below just might be my favorite!
These following few photos are underneath a train station, train trestle type thing… (I don’t work for the railroad and don’t know what things are called, I just know a cool place to shoot when I see it!)
Hot kisses melting the icicles… (yes, cheesy, but it could happen!)
I love how Sarah and Pete were so bold! (The conversation when something like this… I’m using the quotes very loosely.)
Me: “Y’all want to break some rules?”
Sarah and Pete: “Heck, yeah!”
This shot should be proof that it was totally worth it.
Just a little reminder, I do offer a military discount for those proudly serving our country. Oh, and it doesn’t matter where you are, I love to travel too!
Michelle and Stan’s Wedding Album
I haven’t blogged Michelle and Stan’s wedding yet, and I thought of a perfect way to show them off in two ways… their wedding photos AND their wedding album!
Their wedding and reception were at St. Mary’s Church in Orange, Texas. At first, there was worry that Michelle couldn’t find a location for their reception because many churches suffered damage from Hurricane Ike! Fortunately, Michelle was able to take St. Mary’s hall for her reception and transform it into an awesome dancing party!
After several revisions, the album below is exactly how Michelle and Stan wanted it. After the vows have been said, the cake has been eaten, and friends and family have gone home, all you have left from your wedding is your dress, your photographs, memories, and of course, your spouse.
When designing a wedding album, it is sooooo important to me that my couples take a part in the design process to help craft an album specifically for them. It may take a little longer this way, but I feel it’s worth it to have your album exactly as you want it. Plus, heck, it’s not my album! It’s yours! You should love everything about it!
A super big thanks to Chris Lin who not only second shot for me, but drove the night before from Austin, Texas, then rode another couple hours with me past Beaumont to Orange, worked his bum off for a good 10 hours, kept me awake on the drive back to Houston, and then headed back to Austin the following day. And in the middle of all that, he got some pretty kick @$$ photos of the guys getting ready and the whole day. But enough about Chris. You can read more about Michelle and Stan and how they met from their engagement session last year. Stan was so adorably nervous, they are both AWESOME ballroom dancers, and Michelle is a smokin’ hot redhead. What’s not to love about these two?

Kerry and Kent’s Wedding – Ashton Gardens – Houston, Texas
It’s been one year since Kerry and Kent said, “I do”, so it’s about time I blog their wedding!
They were married last June at Ashton Gardens in Houston. When Kerry called me up about photographing her wedding, she told me, “I don’t have pretty eyes like most of your brides. Mine look like mud pools.” I told her I sympathized with her; Having dark brown eyes, I’ve always been fascinated by these windows into the soul. Kerry’s South African “mud pools” sparkled on her wedding day, and she was absolutely radiant.

On top of getting herself dressed, Kerry was helping get her son and Kent’s kids dressed.

The tall girl’s dilemma… heels or flats? Kerry rocked an adorable pair with tiny heels!
Kent sharing a laugh with his buddies.
These two lovebirds had a real fun, crazy, and quirky secret handshake they shared… so they did it right after their first kiss!
What else do you do when you’re getting bustled? Strike a pose!
In these next two, first I wanted to show the intimate, romantic side of this fun couple…
… and then what they look like when they let their true colors show.
Mmmm… cake!
Sharing a moment with Grandma.
Thank you Kerry and Kent in allowing me to share in the celebration of your wedding day! And happy 1st anniversary!

Jessica and Scot’s Wedding – Indian Summer Lodge – Houston, TX (1 of 2)
Last fall, Jessica and Scot had an amazing wedding ceremony (and equally fun party following) at Indian Summer Lodge in the Houston Heights. Below are some of my favorites from their day…
Doing whatever it takes to get a ring bearer dressed.

Jessica’s mom helped her with her jewelry.

Before Heading to Indian Summer Lodge, we scurried down to the lobby for some quick bridal portraits.
Pianos always make great photo props.
Scot and the groomsmen looking on as guests arrive.
Jessica has a very classic, yet eclectic taste. She rocked the yellow flowers!
The ceremony took place in the Indian Summer Lodge treehouse.

The kiss!

A fun take on formals…
Stay tuned… Part two is coming tomorrow!
Hannah’s Newborn Session – Frisco, Texas
Hannah has arrived! Earlier this year, I drove north of Dallas to Frisco to photograph little Hannah after she made her entrance in this world. On her first day home from the hospital, Miss Hannah was our model and muse. We’re getting her started early.
I *heart* baby parts! Such tiny little toes!
Hannah wouldn’t let me see her pale eyes, but she did grimace from my flash.
Her mom and I call this one a smile… even though she may have been passing gas.
Hannah received this cute bonnet and dress as a gift, so we played dress-up!
Amanda’s Bridals – Antique Rose Emporium – Independence, TX
Amanda and Troy were married earlier this year, so it’s time I unveil her bridals! (Yes, pun intended.)
We headed up to the Antique Rose Emporium in Independence, Texas for a fun, relaxed shoot for this Aggie bride.

One of Amanda’s bridesmaids came with us and started cracking some jokes…

Finally, some fun sunset shots.

Thanks Amanda!
Ashley and Michael’s Engagement Session – San Luis Resort – Galveston, Texas
It’s awesome when couples choose somewhere beautiful and special for their engagement photos! Michael works for the Landry’s corporation which owns a variety of restaurants, hotels, and attractions throughout the US, so Michael often brings Ashley to the San Luis Resort in Galveston, another Landry’s owned resort. It’s the place where Michael also asked Ashely to marry him.

Shooting somewhere new, I always have a lot of “let’s try this” moments. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t. But in a world of unique couples and cookie cutter photographs, its the best way to provide something one-of-a-kind.

After a few photos outside with the Bentley, we went inside to warm up.

A great thing about Galveston in the winter? The water actually looks blue!

When you have green grass, why not lie in it?

Ashley has such beautiful blue eyes! (And Michael’s not too shabby either…)

I think the one below is my favorite… also the most difficult shot as I stood on a cocktail table and the top of the couch while dangling my camera above their heads. Somehow, they’re still smiling.

When the valet’s are away, we’re gonna play!

Thank you Ashley and Michael for having me shoot your engagement photos! I hope y’all have a beautiful wedding in Florida!
